Separation from motor traffic is the heaviest factor and is ranked explicitly: a physically separate track, a painted lane on the carriageway and a shared bus lane are three different levels of protection, the ranking used is returned with the result, and roads carrying cycle traffic with no provision at all are counted as the fourth level.
